The Lord Mayor’s Show 2019

The Lord Mayor’s Show is possibly the best-known London annual events whose history dates back to the 16th century. Every year a new Lord Mayor is appointed and a public parade takes place to celebrate the inauguration ceremony.

The show is named after the Lord Mayor of the ‘City of London’, a distinct city and ceremonial county within Greater London. The City is London’s financial district, informally known as ‘the Square Mile’.

The Lord Mayor’s Show is centred on a street parade, a light-hearted combination of traditional British pageantry and elements of carnival. On the day after being sworn in, the Lord Mayor and several others participate in a procession from Guildhall, via Mansion House and St Paul’s Cathedral, in the heart of the City of London, to the Royal Courts of Justice on the edge of the City of Westminster, where the new Lord Mayor swears allegiance to the Crown.

This year the procession is accompanied by a lively range of performances and family activities in the Show Zones at Paternoster Square and Bloomberg Arcade.

If you are an organisation attending the Lord Mayor’s Show Event Transportation is a major concern. Contact A-B 24/7 to discuss how we can help you with your transportation logistics.

Lord Mayor’s Show Event Transportation

When does it start and end?

This year the show starts on Saturday the 9th November at 11 am. To get the best views the organisers recommend getting there by 10:15.
Residents of the City of London you can expect road closures and diversions during the 11th , you might be able to get in and out before 9 am but after that you’ll have to wait until the show is finished later on on the day, probably after 3 or 4pm. So it’s best to plan ahead, and if you are using public transport it will be very busy and bus routes will be subject to diversion.
