Chessington, in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames in Greater London, is a household name thanks to the theme park just south of the town. Boasting white-knuckle rides and a five star, safari-themed hotel, Chessington World of Adventures is one of the top resort theme parks in Europe!
Chessington itself has a long history. The mansion in the theme park – known as the Burnt Stub – got its name after Oliver Cromwell’s forces destroyed it during the English Civil War. Famous children’s author Enid Blyton also lived in the town during the 1920’s.
Approximately 17 miles from central London, Chessington has excellent transport links to the capital. Not far from the M25, the town also has two railway stations with regular trains to London Waterloo
